Indian Notes Used in Pakistan : 1947 - 1948
The partition of India in 1947 led to the emergence of Pakistan. In the initial years, the Government of Pakistan used existing British India notes printed at the Nasik Press as paper money. The words ‘Government of Pakistan’ in English and ‘Hukumat-e-Pakistan’ in Urdu were overprinted using an amended plate in the watermark window. These notes remained in circulation in Pakistan until they were demonetized in 1949 and replaced by Pakistan printed currency.
