Cash Coupons of Princely States : 1939 - 1946
When World War II broke out in 1939, there was a severe shortage of metal. The production of coins of small denominations was worst hit. The smaller Princely States of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Sind, and Baluchistan in North Western India, and the Central Provinces issued paper coupons to replace metal coins of low denominations. These paper coupons were in circulation until 1946.
